←Drawing review XD→

Today I'm gonna show you guys how I process a drawin'
Coz I'm too boring in the noon...
maybe some people will be interested to know and some may not
If find it boring then just ignore this post XD
Ok, well...I've never taken any classes on art
I don't know how to start drawing with steps
maybe they do have steps to follow...
but I'm just doing it randomly with my experience of years of drawing
I find out this is the best~atleast for me
It involves 5 steps; sketch, draw, shadow and coloring, touch up and signature.

I've chosen this photo as my sample, I used to love this anime last time when I was small
anyone can recall this??? it's 幽灵公主

Well, basically what you need to prepare are a 2B pencil, a mechanical pencil( I will tell you later why you need it since most of the people would use 2B pencil only), a sharp edge eraser, sharpener, some tissue and a good quality paper.

Ok let's get it started, 1st ever step, spend about 5-10mins, you need to sketch or outline your picture, so that you can actually know how much space you would need to stay up for.. maybe a face eg.
when you sketch a picture, do use a 2b pencil because all you need is just to get a rough idea on sharping and sizing, avoid using too much of rubbing, this can cause some dark stain on the paper
(advisable to use good quality eraser and paper to avoid dark stain)

Next is the 2nd step, this step involves drawing of picture, when deal with drawing part, my advice is to use a mechanical pencil, the reason why I would choose a mechanical pencil is because it's sharp.
A sharp pencil will promise you precise lines, I don't use 2B to draw because it's thick and I have to keep sharpen it which is waste of time!

Then, it's 3rd step. This step requires you to darken and shadow some parts which you need to differentiate the parts, eg- the hair and some shadow
Do all these shadowing by using 2b pencil as it gives more natural effect due to it's thickness.
Do concern about the strength you use to shadow, different energy of shadow gives you different darkness, it is essential to have different darkness to give out more 3D effect.
Eg. notice that the hair of the girl has 2 colors, 1 is darker than another.

4th step, in this step you will need to touch up on your picture.
This is the most important step which makes you picture looks superb than others
you need to 1st shadow more parts, then use tissue to rub those shadow and darken parts to make them look real natural, do compare this picture with previous one, you will notice that the shadow and darken for the previous pic look so harsh and unnatural.

After you use tissue to rub those parts you will notice the color and lines will start to fade, this is where you need to touch up, use a 2b pencil and touch up those parts which are faded recolor and redraw. This will eventually give a 3D effect to you picture( not too much as it will again make it back to unnatural). Then, you have to use a sharp edge eraser to whitening some part, why do I use to word whitening?? notice that the shirt and the areas around the wolf's nose are more whiter compared other?? this would give some 3D effect on it ^^. I do it practically most of the time is on faces of picture!

If you want, you can even use tissue to rub the lines of your drawing which makes the picture looks extremely soft, this is done by many artists especially doing portrait, but I don't like it coz when you keep longer, you will notice you pictures will start to fade.

Lastly, which is most important step^^...
Of coz is adding in my signature and dates so I will remember forever!
Do comment and critiques on it, coz I'm waiting for improvement.
For those who have taken any classes, sorry I do not know what are the proper terms to use in drawing XD...Thank you!!
